Four reasons that deter parents from homeschooling

Most parents who decide to homeschool have to face myths, doubts and fears that make it difficult for them to take the right decision. This article will help bust some myths and fears that prevent a lot of parents from homeschooling.
1. I have a hard time communicating with my children, they do not listen.
This, in fact, is a very good reason for you to homeschool. Rather than not understanding their responsibility towards disciplining their little ones, they must embrace chances to teach their children to be obedient and respectful. They must know how to build strong relationships with their little ones.
Expecting someone else, such as a teacher, to handle it shows a parent’s lack of commitment. If the parents do not set boundaries then their children will keep testing and crossing them.
2. I will have difficulty teaching Maths and Science
According to research, the level of the parent’s education does not determine how successful they will be in homeschooling. At times, even those parents who are high school drop outs can successfully teach their children. In fact, those parents who have had gaps in their education can fill the voids by homeschooling their children.
Homeschool curriculums are designed to help parents stay organized when homeschooling. They ensure that no extra training or education is needed to teach the homeschoolers. In all good programs, there are clear instructions, solutions and guides are provided. Some programs also come with instructional DVD's.
Moreover, there is also the option of private tuitions for subjects that are difficult to teach.
3. Homeschooling is unaffordable.
There are plenty of choices and options as well as free resources over the internet. Therefore, no parent should think this way. There are so many homeschooling families that survive on a single income and still choose to homeschool and offer quality education.
Moreover, you can also save money that is required to send a child to school which includes, school clothing, fund-raising contributions, lunch money, and other such school-related expenditures.
While your only major expense will be on materials and books, they too can be re-used with your younger children. You will be able to get proper value for the money.
4. My children are extroverts and homeschooling will not work for them
Homeschooling does not deprive children from meeting new people and interacting with likeminded individuals. In fact, homeschooling offers several opportunities that help families develop good values.
Homeschooling Canada is a great platform that assists in creating stronger bonds between parents and their children.

Chemistry Experiments for Your Homeschool

Chemistry is a very interesting subject for any homeschool science curriculum . It deals in reaction between two or more substances, color changes, heat production, production of sound energy, and much more. There is chemistry all around us, from a boiling egg, to making of pop corns, ripening of bananas, and burning firewood. As you study this subject, you will learn that there are essentially two kinds of changes: chemical and physical.  Physical changes are those changes where the substance appears different, but it is still the same in its constituency. For instance, when a sheet of paper is torn, the consequence may be pieces of paper. However, it is still paper. Chemical changes are those changes where atoms in the molecules are rearranged and create a different substance all together. Moreover, there is alteration in energy and color. For instance, when paper is burnt, the molecules making the paper undergo transformation an...

Homeschooling and Grandparents

Here is a list of ideas that will help you play an important role in your grandchild’s educational experience. Full-time Teachers In some families, having a grandparent as the primary “teacher” in the homeschool is an excellent solution. This is particularly true if both parents are working full-time and the grandparents are willing to get involved. Grandparents who decide to take these roles have to be patient, energetic, and prepared to deal with the tantrums of their grandchildren. This may also involve the risk of causing rough confrontations with the parents.  The Guest Lecturer In this role, the grandparent may be skilled in math, interested in science, or passionate about literature or writing. This grandparent can be in charge of the academic subject that they feel they have expertise on. This will also give the ...
