Homeschooling a high school student: what is the right method?

It is not easy to homeschool a high school student. But, with a little patience, it will not be as tough as you think. Below are a few helpful tips that can help you with the process!

1. Plan the year
For a trouble-free journey begin by planning! Browse through different high school curriculums as early as possible. Make sure you keep an eye for a good deal related to high school homeschooling from as early as 7th grade.

2. Choosing electives
A very important part of any high school is choosing electives. Electives are extra subjects that assist in exploring subjects that are outside of their core subjects. Start by creating a detailed list of electives options for your child. Sit down with your teen and try to narrow down the list by choosing the ones that will really suit their interests, fulfill their high school requirements, and will help them in the future.

3. Stay organized
Make sure you and your child are birth well organized during the entire year to stay productive. During their teenage years, part of their schooling and growing up is to learn to handle their own lives. You can guide your children during high school to help them become self-reliant.

4. Choose the right curriculum
With your child getting older, you will have a better understanding for their study style and what will work for them Teens must also be involved in choosing their curriculum and deciding what they should learn.  With your supervision, your teen can take charge and gain control over their learning process.

5. Persistence
It is important to stay patient and work persistently towards achieving your goals.  Teenage years are rough enough! If you add homeschooling your teen, there may be days you may just want to call it quits! You will have your bad days. It is important to keep the bigger picture in mind.

Homeschooling can be a beautiful journey if you learn to relax and stay motivated. It may take some effort but ultimately you will find your way as you work through high school curriculum together.

Homeschooling and Grandparents

If you are a grandparent who wants to be involved in your grandchild’s homeschooling life, there are a variety of ways in which you can do that. Here is a list of ideas that will help you play an important role in your grandchild’s educational experience. Full-time Teachers In some families, having a grandparent as the primary “teacher” in the homeschool is an excellent solution. This is particularly true if both parents are working full-time and the grandparents are willing to get involved. Grandparents who decide to take these roles have to be patient, energetic, and prepared to deal with the tantrums of their grandchildren. Chemistry Experiments for Your Homeschool

Chemistry is a very interesting subject for any homeschool science curriculum . It deals in reaction between two or more substances, color changes, heat production, production of sound energy, and much more. There is chemistry all around us, from a boiling egg, to making of pop corns, ripening of bananas, and burning firewood. As you study this subject, you will learn that there are essentially two kinds of changes: chemical and physical.  Physical changes are those changes where the substance appears different, but it is still the same in its constituency. For instance, when a sheet of paper is torn, the consequence may be pieces of paper. However, it is still paper. Chemical changes are those changes where atoms in the molecules are rearranged and create a different substance all together. Moreover, there is alteration in energy and color. For instance, when paper is burnt, the molecules making the paper undergo transformation an...
