Simple science projects for your homeschool syllabus

For supplementing a regular homeschool curriculum, there are numerous different science projects that you can use. It is a known fact that children have a natural desire to explore and learn more about the world around them. Simple science projects that help in engaging them in discovering this world and helping them make observations, predictions, and inquire through query helps them in their mental understanding and growth. When you homeschool your child, you are able to nurture their growth. 

While buying science kits, it is very important that you consider the child’s basic skill set and prior knowledge. It is important to consider the level of knowledge, age, and child’s general expertise to be able to choose simple projects of science that will challenge the student and motivate them to learn and act without the complexities of boredom and frustration. For younger children, science projects that include piecing a model dinosaur together is appropriate. For children that are older, a project pertaining to constructing a wind vane to understand the wind direction or constructing a barometer for learning about the air pressures may be appropriate.

While selecting science projects you must also consider the child’s language development. The child’s language skills will help in determining if you can include supplement material such as books, songs, and poems. The vocabulary of the child will grow when he or she is subjected to different types of experiences and knowledge. 

A very productive way of advancing your child’s mental acumen on several different levels are science projects. Irrespective of the topics you are covering when studying, you will see your child engaging in several unique levels when supplementing the topics with real life experiments. However, make sure you choose a science project carefully and by analyzing your child’s interests and skills.  This will ensure that that the experiments are able to achieve what they are supposed to.
